Writable Directory with owner other than WWW

Hello dear Community,

I've recently installed aaPanel and really love it! However I can't get it to work properly for my usecase:

The plan is to use it as an FTP server with a simple web interface. I'm running aaPanel in an LXC Container (on a Proxmox host). Proxmox is passing the Folder I want to make available via FTP to the aaPanel guest. This works fine, I can see all the files in the file browser in aaPanel, however I can't change the owner to www. It shows as owner: root.

So I can login via FTP, browse and see all files but I can't write any files to my FTP server. Therefore I was wondering if its possible somehow to make folders available via FTP that are owned by root instead of www. Anyone got an Idea?

Hello, the browser will give up support for the ftp protocol in the near future. It is recommended to use the file browser mode provided by the web service

I wasn't using the browser but the two different FTP-Clients to copy data into the directory. I could see all the files and read them but didn't have permission to write.

Hello, try to modify this file, please back up before modification, restart the ftp service after modification
1000 is the id of the www user and group
/www/server/pure-ftpd/etc/pureftpd.passwd

thanks again for your support! This is awesome. Unfortunately it still doesn't work.

When I use the files browser in AA-Panel I can upload files to my director via the web interface. √
When I login via FTP Client I can see my uploaded Test-File √
When I login via FTP I still can't delete or Upload new files (X)

I modified the pureftpd.passwd so that it reads something like:

testuser:$2a$10$eh5P3xJ5EPb4NnUX0LSyUu/rm/XEg9pOr7KxpPfMmV1Wf1rp8ABf6:1000:1000::/website_backup/./::::::::::::

Any Idea what else I could do?

PS: I also tried setting the UID and group ID to 0 in the pureftpd.passwd file. No luck either. Same problem. 😢

Have you tried restarting the FTP service? What are the permissions of the file?

aaPanel_Kern Yes, I restartet the entire server even. Everything has 755 in the folder. But I can't seem to change the permissions in the AA-Panel Interface

thanks for your tip. Unfortunately changing the owner from the web interface doesn't work. It says "Setup successful" but when I refresh the owner always stays root. Thats why I thought maybe there is a way to make files from "root" available via FTP as well?
