no log mailserver debain 10

since the update from mailserver to debain 10 the log doesn't work anymore.
it doesn't log anything anymore so no error messages is there a possibility to solve this.

i had the same issue after using the log cleanup plugin.
got it fixed by running the command in terminal

touch /var/log/mail
service syslog restart

did you try a restart of postfix?
/etc/init.d/postfix restart

the maildrop folder should be created automatically upon restart of service.
or else you need to create the folder manually and restart the postfix service again.

mkdir /var/spool/postfix/maildrop
chown postfix:postdrop /var/spool/postfix/maildrop
chmod 730 /var/spool/postfix/maildrop

check your postfix config, are these lines in the config?
smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot
smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth
smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes

and also check if /var/spool/postfix/private/auth exists?
add/change the lines or create the directory if they dont exist then restart postfix service again.

the lines exist in the postfix config .
the /auth file do not exist .
so i think thats the error .
now i have to know how to make that file .
i have nothing changed and nothing deleted in this directory .
can you help me to make the /auth file .

i checked the dovecot.conf and i think i am missing a line .
I think this line should be in there .
is this correct

path = /var/spool/postfix/private/auth

group = postfix

this line is inside /etc/dovecot/conf.d/10-master.conf
btw, the private/auth will be created automatically once you repair the dovecot.
