PHP files get downloaded instead of executed

Hi,
I have installed aaPanel on Ubuntu Server 20.04 (we are using a headless Dell PowerEdge R340). We have chosen Apache with PHP (both versions 5.6 & 7.4) and MySQL. Our problem is that no matter what the php files cannot be parsed/executed. In both PHP versions. To eliminate the PHP erros we are using a php file containing only phpinfo() function. The HTML files work properly. Apache serves them without any problem.
Can you please help me out with this?
I am stack for 3 days!

when PHP files downloaded rather than executed, then this meant your PHP not working.
Try to Uninstall then Install again PHP.

But my problem isn't the PHP that is not running.
I followed your hint and reinstalled PHP. From my terminal php is working. php --version repsonds with the php running version. Can you please advice?
I have the same issue with Apache and Nginx. I also used both php 7.4 and php 5.6.
I also uninstalled everything. aapanel, php (both versions) apache, nginx, phpmyadmin. Everything. And reinstalled aapanel, php 7.4 and Nginx. The behavior is the same. I am stack for a week and I cannot find a solution

Please note that you can run PHP from CLI event without install PHP from App Store!
This meant your PHP was installed by your OS, which not connect to your Web Server.

So, you must:

Uninstall PHP from App Store if any then reinstall PHP from App Store again

NB: to make sure every thing is okay then you may Uninstall both Apache/Nginx and PHP, then FIRST install Apache/Nginx then install PHP.

I just tried. No luck! Html works fine, PHP is just downloaded.

just to make sure:

rename .htaccess to .htaccess.bak
create simple phpinfo.php contains:
<?php print phpinfo();
Execute in your browser: phpinfo.php

Also check if

# cd /www/server/panel/vhost/apache/
Suppose domain name is abc.com:

# cat abc.com.conf|grep php
    <FilesMatch \.php$>
            SetHandler "proxy:unix:/tmp/php-cgi-72.sock|fcgi://localhost"
        DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm default.php default.html default.htm
    <FilesMatch \.php$>
            SetHandler "proxy:unix:/tmp/php-cgi-72.sock|fcgi://localhost"
        DirectoryIndex index.php index.html index.htm default.php default.html default.htm
root@disti-jrc:/www/server/panel/vhost/apache#

You must see DirectoryIndex index.php

Still problem, I renamed .htaccess
I use this php file to check the fumctionality
This time I installed Nginx.
You think I should prefer Apache ? I prefer Apache but I wanred to change smth.
So should uninstall Nginx or is there smth to be careful about ?

JAY Hi Jay, after all these days I have just installed CentOs 7, minimal server. On top I installed aapanel. I still have the same problem! PHP files keep on downloading. I have installed (through aapanel) PHP7.4, apache, Maria DB 10 and PHPMyadmin. I have found searching the internet many posts but I don;t want to try to fix using the terminal. Through aapnel I didn't manage so far. If understood correctly you are more familiar with CentOs 7, can you please advise

I switched between Nginx and Apache trying to make it work !

As you can see in my current configuration I have installed only Nginx and PHP.
Trying to find the correct configuration I had even aapanel uninstalled and install everything again.
I have noticed that I cannot delete everyting. When I reiinstall a component I found left overs from previous installations

Can not delete anything? Does your disk become Read Only?
But, I see your Nginx and PHP installation are fine. Very strange, you may email me at kotakomputer.ceo @ gmail.com with aaPanel access. I will check.

No no I can delete everything I like. The strange is that although I deleted everything when I reinstalled aapanel there were leftovers drom previous configurations. Like the sites I had installed. In any case I will mail you details to have access in our aapanel.

The starnge think is that it is a fresh clean Intsallation.
CentOs 7 minimal Server on a Dell PowerEdge R340.
On top of this I only installed aapanel. I shouldn't have a problem.
It must something smal tiny configuration. That's my feeling.

Dude, what he said is STATIC DOES NOT EXECUTE PHP.
STATIC CAN NOT BE SELECTED.

P.S. - It's 2021. You're installing an EOL OS.
CentOS 7 is dead. aaPanel is compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, AlmaLinux 8, Oracle Linux 8. Get rid of outdated installations.
