Question about opcache and memcached - PHP extensions

Hi, sorry to ask a newbie question, but I've been using this panel for 2 weeks now and I'm loving it.

Small question with regards to php extensions, since the panel shows heavy spikes of CPU usage (traffic isn't that crazy) I tried to optimize a few things. I tweaked the php fpm settings to be more reflective of the limitaions of my vps (which I'm hoping to move my clients to) and ran into the option to enable opcache (which made a significant impact).

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to install memcached as well (as far as I know, they should be completely independent, but it doesn't hurt to ask).

Infrangilis You can install APP STORE memcached vs redis. You can configure your PHP configuration accordingly. In the meantime, you need to install "Install extensions" mamcached or redis.

yclywz41 I installed memcached from the app store, and installed the extension for php. My question is, can I use both opcache and memcached extensions for php without any conflict?

Infrangilis They are different and independent modules.
OPcache is for accelerating code access.
Memcached is for accelerating data access.
They will not conflict.

also if you have enough ram you can use apcu

idflorin Thanks! I'm on 6 GB ram, so I can definitely spare the memory needed, but would I have to uninstall either if I use apcu as well?

Infrangilis its no need to uninstall. If you don't use it (Memcached or Redis), the memory used by these processes is very small.
